Cleft, 2019, Installation, fabric sculptures, cotton, polyfill, chain

Doris Lessing's The Cleft tells an interesting alternate account about the origins of mankind. An ancient group of women living by the sea used parthenogenesis to have children and disposed of male births by naming them monsters. Cleft, an installation inspired by the Lessings' work, portrays the inevitable but painful connection between genders.
